本屆鋼雕藝術節以「無限上鋼」命題,除了直指並重新思考,在以重工業奠基的高雄舉行的這個城市藝術節,其「鋼鐵限定」的鮮明路線與屬性,更企圖以「超越既定」而「無限擴展」的創作挑戰與視野來開展這場充滿鋼鐵港都特質的藝術盛會。馬列主義中的「無限上綱」,原指政治鬥爭過程中誇大其實的意識型態與批判方法。高雄國際鋼雕藝術節改「綱」為「鋼」,翻轉其原有的負面意涵,藉開放的藝術想像與多元詮釋,重新刻寫也再度擴展與鋼鐵的新美學關係。

The theme of this year’s festival is “Steel Super.” It illuminates and rethinks the character and attributes of the “steel-and-iron-limited” city festival in Kaohsiung; moreover, it attempts to transcend and expand the scope and vision of the art event in the port city. The term “Unlimited Supremacy” derived from Marxism-Leninism, which describes the exaggerating interpretation and unduly means in political criticism. “Steel Super” borrows the ideas but overturns the negative connotation in its original context. With distinctive imagination and different interpretation, it re-shapes and extends beyond the aesthetic relationship between steel and art.
